Junction Arts is recognised for high quality rurally-based participatory arts work that changes peoples lives, builds confidence and skills, increases communication and supports community and personal empowerment. The Derbyshire-based organisation’s vision is to increase and extend access to high quality arts through inspirational, innovative participatory arts programmes and projects via partnership and collaboration within rural areas of the East Midlands.

In a time where arts funding is a constant victim of cuts, Junction Arts needed to publicise the success and importance of their work and were finding their existing website was neither engaging its visitors or conforming to the styles defined in their recent rebranding excersise.

10th Planet were called in to provide a complete visual overhaul and to add several new levels of functionality and interactivity for the site’s visitors and Junction Arts themselves. These included:

• Full content management and control for Junction Arts
• Blog and news updates
• Project viewer
• Past projects archive
• Photo gallery
• Video area and YouTube integration
• Social media integration
• Viewer contributions and comments

We also consolidated the wide array of conflicting domain names, email addresses and hosting packages to all operate under a single name:

In the run up to the release of the DVD, Sheffield Vision came back to us to update TheBeatisTheLaw.com with the new and finalised branding. We’ve been with this project from the beginning, so were happy to be on board to take it to it’s final incarnation on the web.

This time the root of the core design came from The Designer’s Republic, the influential design studio that set up in the middle of the documentary’s focus period, rather than Martin Bedford, like last time.

The main challenge when turning a print design into something that will work on the web is making everything work within a medium that you as a designer has very little, if any control over how the viewer will see it in the end. You then have to factor in elements of usability, flow and user experience, all without sacrificing the aesthetic quality of the original design… Fortunately, we’re well versed in that

The site’s content was all in place from the last version of the site, so it was important that it all stayed in place and the cross over between versions was perfectly smooth as nether us nor Sheffield Vision wanted to see any downtime on the site. This meant having to readjust a lot of content to fit into a very different form factor, as well as moving and reorganising the structure, all without changing the site’s internal structure, to avoid losing the PageRank.

We also built them a portfolio website that would complement the brochure and promotional materials. By doing this at the same time we were designing the print materials meant that we could enforce brand cohesion across all the material.

Well, what’s happening is that we are designing a restaurant!

Frequenters of Sheffield’s West Street might have noticed that the K-Pasa restaurant has been closed for refurbishment. The restaurant is under new ownership and undergoing a complete upgrade in all respects.

To complement the new chef and menu we have created a completely new look including a new logo, corporate ID, signage, printed material, advertising and PR material and, of course the website.

Oh and we also designed the interior and the exterior as well !
